The original Zappi is part of an existing range of products by UK start-up company Myenergi Ltd. It allows consumers to dynamically charge their electric vehicles with excess energy created by solar panels and wind turbines. Myenergi Ltd wanted the next generation of EV chargers to offer more flexibility of internal component configurations, have a lower profile, save time and money on installation and develop the form into something more dynamic and engaging.

With the expansion of electric vehicle users, there is a growing requirement for home electric car ports that are attractive, easy to use and robust. Myenergi Ltd’s previous Zappi unit was too small in volume to offer them the added functionality and flexibility that they needed in order to meet this demand. The existing unit was expensive to produce and basic in its appearance which didn’t reflect the advanced technology housed within the product.
By liaising efficiently with our clients we were able to produce a design which is more compact than its competitors as well as having the space and mounting positions inside for future product development. Its angled front face allows the socket and holster to sit at an angle, lessening the impact on the overall profile when a plug is inserted. Added cable insertion points and a unique screw sealing system allows for flexible, efficient and speedy installation. We were able to design the components in such a way that their pricing came well within budget. This allowed for Myenergi Ltd to add functionality to the product by asking us to design and include further plastic components in the assembly such as the custom Dummy Socket. Salsus supplied presentation standard prototypes for the products launch event which received positive feedback from a range of industries in attendance. .
